I would like to purchase both the Monarch and the Swallow Tail butterflies to raise and release. Any help here would be helpful. I live in the suburbs of northwest of Chicago ILL.
Karen says: It is too late in September to start raising those two butterflies in Chicago. Instead of buying the eggs or caterpillars of these butterflies, I would recommend trying to attract them to your garden. You can either purchase host plants from local nurseries or buy seeds and grow them yourself. You can purchase a raising monarch butterfly kit but you need to provide the host plant, milkweed, to feed the caterpillars.
