I live in Central NY. We have pretty harsh winters here. Can the OE spores survive and infect the new Milkweed plants of spring?
Karen says: I think that the OE spores can survive winter. Cut down the milkweed and discard the plant. Hopefully getting rid of it will protect next year's butterflies from OE.
