Stanley the monarch

(Burnsville, MN)

Stanley

Stanley

Stanley was found by my son on a golf course. He turned into a beautiful butterfly. We are currently raising 5 monarch caterpillars now!

He's a boy!
by: Sharon

Don't know if you knew that Stanley actually is a boy. See the black spots on each rear wing? The females don't have these spots. I learned this when my daughter and I did her science fair project on Monarchs and we raised one. Hers was a girl. She'd named the caterpillar Fred, so had to change its name after it emerged.
