Giant Swallowtail Caterpillars
by: Sexton Family

We live in East Texas and have three lemon trees outside. We just noticed what we originally thought was bird droppings on one of the trees until we tried to move it and discovered it was alive! After searching on the internet we have discovered that we have 7 of these caterpillars and are so excited! We have never seen anything like this before.

Do giant swallotail live in Minnesota?
by: Anonymous

Me and my friends were talking one day and one of my friends said "I saw a giant butterfly" and she describe a giant swallowtail to me. I live in MN.

Thank you for sharing these Giant Swallowtail photos!

Sharon,
I really appreciate you sharing these interesting photos of the life cycle of the Giant Swallowtail Butterfly.

These caterpillars look very different from the Black Swallowtail butterflies I have raised. So is that orange tree leaves that they are eating?

Thanks again!
