Is there time?

by Ann
(Sunbury, PA)

We have 2 black swallowtail caterpillars who have gone into their chrysalis' yesterday and today. It's Sept. 23rd and we live in central PA ... not sure if we should keep them inside and let them complete the process and in the next 2-3 weeks let out butterflies to the weather of October OR put them some place cool and hope they over-winter?

Karen says:
I am guessing that your weather is getting cool there and that these chrysalis are ones that over-winter so I would put them some place cool.
