How long will the seeds last?

by Marty
(Nashville, TN)

I purchased both Swamp and Tropical milkweed seeds.
They have been in the fridge for about 6 weeks.
I have been unable to complete a planting area.
Will the seeds be good until next spring?
Should I leave them in the fridge?

Thank You

Karen says
Yes, you can store the seeds in the fridge until next spring. Put your small seed bags into a sandwich sized ziplock to ensure they stay dry.

You might want to try planting half of your swamp milkweed seeds in the ground in the fall. And you can start the other half of the swamp milkweed inside in January and February.

The tropical milkweed seeds you can start about 2 1/2 to 3 months before you want to plant them outside.

Try soaking both types of milkweed seeds in warm water for 24 hours before you start or plant them.

I hope this helps.
