Left it too long!

What would happen if soon after emerging a butterfly was not let out of a jar it was raised in it would probably-.....?

It takes a while for the wings to dry so the butterfly can fly. It depends upon how long it was kept in the jar and how much room there was in the jar. Newly hatched butterflies can go without food for a while.

Crumpled Monarch

I found a chrysalis in the dirt. I brought it in and placed it upright inside of a leaf. I noticed the monarch emerged but was stuck in the leaf. Her wings are crumpled and she cannot seem to spread her wings. Does she just need more time? or are her wings destroyed....
