How warm should it be to release monarch butterflies?

by Cathy
(League City)

FYI, I was able to bring in the 9 monarch chrysalis that I found in my garden and so far 6 of them emerged, only one with a broken wing, even with the cat knocking them across the floor 2 times. How long can I keep them inside? It should be 70 degrees by Tues 12/8. Can I let them go on Tues?
Thanks for you help.
Cathy

Karen says:
Cathy, that's great that you could bring 9 of them inside and that 6 have emerged. Yes, 70 degrees should be fine. If it is sunny and in the 60s earlier than Tuesday, you could release them sooner.
