Black Swallowtail Chrysalis Pupated In May, When Will It Hatch?

by Ethan
(San Antonio, TX)

I'll be out of town for a few days; I'm just wondering how long it will take to mature and also if there is any special way to store it while I'm gone.

P.S. It "chrysalized" on May 13th. Here are some pics.

Thanks a bunch! -Ethan G.

Karen says:
It usually takes about 2 weeks, but this can vary depending on temperature, etc. There isn't any special care it needs in the chrysalis form. I hope you get to see the amazing transformation to butterfly!
